The programme has been carefully planned so that priority is given to training. Please discuss the benefits of your attendance with your manager. The better trained and more knowledgeable you are, the better you will serve your Mayor and your Council.
Members attending are encouraged to bring their Mace-bearing uniform. This is worn for the installation ceremony and for the official photograph.

Below are details of the formal training. However, members also benefit from the informal discussions with members from across the country.
Wednesday 29th May
18:00 onwards Delegates and guests are welcome to register and get together informally at the Porters Civic House & Mayor’s Parlour, Southend Road, Southend-on-Sea, SS1 2LT
Thursday 30th May
08:45 onwards : Registration, Welcome & Robing at the hotel
09:30 Election and Installation of the Prime Warden
10:15 Photos – Please wear your uniform for the Installation of the new Prime Warden followed by photographs
11:00 First Aid Training session
12:45 Buffet Lunch for delegates and their guests
13:30 Presentation of the new Guild Mace and care of the mace by Ged Collins
14:30 Presentation on Mace-bearing, Chauffeuring & Civic Offices in the 21st Century
14:45 Annual General Meeting
15:30 Question and Answer Session – Your opportunity to ask more experienced members any questions about civic protocol.
16:00 Prime Warden’s Close Remarks
18:30 for 19:00 Guild Dinner (Black Tie or Dark Suit and equivalent for ladies) (Please bring a prize for the raffle) Menu to be confirmed.
Friday 31st May
10:00 Annual General Meeting to be held at the Porters Civic House & Mayor’s Parlour, Southend Road, Southend-on-Sea, SS1 2LT
12:30 The Prime Warden – Close of Conference
Member’s guests are welcome to explore Southend-on-Sea and its many attractions, parks, gardens and High Street at their leisure during the conference sessions.
ACCOMMODATION
A special rate for Bed and Breakfast at £95 per night single occupancy or £105 per night double occupancy for Conference attendees has been arranged at the hotel.
